Back in April 2022 the ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of Altenburg’s new factory, only about 1 km away from the current location that is full of tradition and history.
The new factory will have a total area of approx. 20,500 m² and offers sufficient space for the various production areas as well as offices and social areas.
In addition, a DGNB Platinum certification is planned – a German standard which covers a sustainable construction and a comprehensive package of measures for ecological and social sustainability. This includes, for example, the preparation of a photovoltaic system, the use of a water cistern and e-charging stations for employees cars. After completion of the construction, the outdoor areas are generously landscaped so that employees and animals can feel comfortable.

Completion is scheduled for Q1 2023, so that the relocation of machines and offices can begin immediately afterwards.
New and sustainable factory to open in Altenburg, Germany
In April 2022, Cartamundi started building a new factory in Altenburg, Germany. The building is equipped with various modern sustainability aspects and is expected to be finished Q1 of 2023. It will house the production facilities as well as the different departments associated with Cartamundi Solutions.
