Company description

At Cartamundi the printing presses run already since 1765. Today the manufacturing company with Belgian roots has become the largest playing cards – and board game manufacturer in the world. Legendary games such as Monopoly® and Pokémon® run off the Cartamundi production lines, as do many different varieties of playing cards and card games for consumers as well as casinos.

Making a successful card game or board game takes a lot more than just high-quality printing. Over the years, Cartamundi has built up priceless experience in every step of the process. From creation to production, they offer their customers their expertise through a full range of services, such as pre-production, production, co-creation, consulting and fulfilment.

The gaming products Cartamundi manufactures go by the names of Monopoly, UNO, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, Guess Who?, Pokémon, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Shuffle, and so on. All these are strong brands in the games and toys industry, and they are being sold in more than 185 countries.

Cartamundi also created their compelling range of playing cards, children’s card games and family games which can be found in all major retailers across the globe such as Color Addict®, Shuffle®, COPAG® and Ducale ®, All contributing to fulfilling the Cartamundi purpose of “Sharing the Magic of Playing Together”.

But Cartamundi is more about creating the future rather than reliving the past. The future is unpredictable. But it’s safe to say that mobile internet is here to stay. That’s why they are creating iCards for the connected generation. Meaning they use technology such as RFID, image recognition or touch code to create a hybrid gaming experience.

Their approach to the markets is glocal, meaning that they globally adopt good practices of our local companies. It is the best strategy in our line of business, as gaming traditions are different everywhere.

Cartamundi also wants to expand its geographic reach through new countries and new channels. They have recently acquired USPC (https://usplayingcard.com), a strong player in the growing cardistry, casino and specialty playing cards segments with the legendary Bicycle.

The combined company emplos2,500 people and operate 13 state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across four continents. As such, Cartamundi has a strong local commitment. A commitment to its customers, but also to the local economy and the environment.

Cartamundi’s corporate headquarters are located in Turnhout, Belgium. Manufacturing facilities are in Japan, India, Poland, Germany, France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Ireland, United States of America and Brazil.
