Cartamundi, the world’s leading game manufacturer and the market leader in playing cards and card games, and Copag, part of the Cartamundi group and the largest Brazilian manufacturer of playing cards, have signed a worldwide agreement with World Series of Poker (WSOP), the most prestigious event in poker.

Under the terms of the agreement Copag and Cartamundi will have use of the WSOP brand on their poker playing cards and poker sets. In addition WSOP will use Copag cards in its official tournaments.

Cartamundi and Copag will launch a series of WSOP poker playing cards and poker sets this spring. The WSOP ranges will be available in stores and on-line across the world.

Founded over 100 years ago, Copag is a pioneer in the manufacture of playing cards in the Brazilian market and is now among the largest companies in the world operating in the segment. Today, Copag playing cards can be found across five continents and in the largest and most prestigious casinos and world championships. Copag joined the Cartamundi family in 2005.

World Series of Poker (WSOP) is a series of poker tournaments held annually in Las Vegas and, since 2005, sponsored by Caesars Entertainment Corporation. The WSOP began in 1970. Over the years both the number of events it holds and the number of participants it hosts have grown significantly. Every year the WSOP culminates in the $10,000 no-limit hold’em Main Event, the winner of which is considered to be the World Champion of Poker.

Jean Jacques Maartense, VP of Consumer Products, Cartamundi, says: “This agreement with WSOP is highly significant — and not just because it involves the most important poker event in the world. It will also give us the opportunity to establish the Copag brand in the poker segment as a trustworthy partner outside its Latin American base, and to increase the awareness of poker among the general public.”
